Description of the Facility

Situated on the top (8th) floor of Barrows Hall on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, the Lipman Room is a large conference facility perfect for meetings, conferences, lectures, receptions, awards ceremonies and other similar events. Floor to ceiling windows and glass doors, leading to a wrap-around outdoor balcony provide expansive views of the campus and its surroundings, including the San Francisco Bay and skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, Treasure Island, the East Bay Hills and the Oakland skyline. The Lipman Room may be rented by University of California groups and by the general public.

Food/Alcohol Service

Food and beverages are permitted in The Lipman Room. There are no restrictions on the caterers used in The Lipman Room. Any group interested in serving alcoholic beverages must complete and submit a permission form to the University of California Police Department - Special Events Coordinator, (510) 642-6760.

Connectivity

The Lipman Room has an Airbears wireless connection which enables one to connect to the campus network using a laptop epuipped with a wireless ethernet card. The service is based on the IEEE standard 802.11b wireless LAN technology, which supports speeds of up to 11Mbps. Access requires users to have an active CalNet ID or a currently valid guest account username and password. Please note, there is not a hardwired internet connection in the room.
